Dr. John J. Matthes | NYC | Dentist

Picture
I was born in Rhinebeck, New York into a large family of six boys and six girls. However, my parents decided to move our family to Northwest Indiana. I grew up in a small rural town. There everyone knew and cared for each other. This environment had a large impact on my decision to serve others. I chose dentistry because it allows me to continue serving others and I love to see people smile! I received my Bachelor degree from Purdue University. I left Indiana to attend a pre-medical/pre-dental post-baccalaureate at the University of Pennsylvania. There, I concentrated on Organic & Cell Biology while also performing research at a local hospital. Finally, I returned to my beloved Empire State! I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery from New York University College of Dentistry with honors. In addition, I had the pleasure of serving as President of my dental class and NYU Student Body President. I performed my Residency at New York Hospital-Queens and took the initiative of leading the community outreach.

My Vision

I want to continually develop my capabilities as a dental care provider.  As a clinician, I want to provide care that is uniquely designed for each patient.  I am your dentist, however, this is your smile.  Let's make it beautiful together.   I look forward to the opportunity to serve you for many years to come!!!

Why am I different?

I care!! My family background, participation in sports teams, and community activities constantly keep me aware how my actions affect other people. I am deeply committed to charitable and humanitarian service. I was able to provide voluntary dentistry in several underserved indigenous communities in both Yakutat, Alaska and Manta, Ecuador. During my time at the University of Pennsylvania, I had the pleasure to meet many amazing young individuals through "Peacemaking Through The Arts" and by volunteering in free dental clinics.
